Species guide - species detail

Figitidae (Tiny parasitic wasps)

Images

No images available.

Taxonomy

Figitidae are tiny parasitic wasps. They were rare in Bee Atlas blocks, and both nests were in the southeastern part of the state.

Description

Figitidae are tiny, black wasps with a smooth and shiny integument.

Nest Structure

We had two nests that produced Figitidae. We were not able to make direct observations of the hosts, but nest plug information for one of the nests indicates that it may have been the nest of a Eumenid wasp.
