Description: 1/2 inch long.

Where/When: Pest of apples and also pears and crabapple. The larva tunnels through and eats the fruit and seeds. The larva is active May through August.

Significance: Damage is caused by entry to the fruits; frass may accumulate around the entry hole. Sometimes infestation may spread through an entire orchard.
