Description: 3/4 - 1 inch long (1 1/2 - 2 1/4 in wingspan). Yellow and black furry body; wings mostly clear with black veins and a narrow black band on the edge; tip of abdomen has hairs that open to a fan.

Where/When: Visits a variety of perennials during the day. Active from May to July.

Significance: Visits flowers to feed on nectar. Does not harm plants.
