Foreign grain beetles

Jeff Hahn, University of Minnesota Extension

Description: 1/12 inch long. (It is often challenging to recognize small-sized beetles from a picture. Because different insects may be treated differently, be sure the insect is correctly identified before attempting control.)

Where/When: Found in homes, especially new construction, primarily during August and September.

Significance: Does not harm people or property, although it can be a nuisance. In rare cases it can be associated with moldy grain in homes.
