Description

Flies in the family Conopidae often look similar to wasps in body shape and/or coloration. Adults have a long, slender proboscis which they use to drink nectar from flowers. Larvae are internal parasites of other insects - usually bees, wasp, or ants, and the adult females of some species lay their eggs on adult bees or wasps while in flight.
