Description: Up to 1/4 inch long.

Where/When: Feeds on asparagus berries and ferns. Emerges in spring with the appearance of asparagus and is active until mid-June and then from late June through August.

Significance: Small numbers are usually not injurious. Damage to berries and ferns typically not important. If serious defoliation occurs, it can weaken plant for next season and also make it susceptible to disease. Adults feed on spears in spring, which can brown and distort asparagus.
