Desciption: Up to 1/2 inch long.
Where/When: Found in gardens, especially where aphids are present. They are active in the spring and summer.
Significance: The larva is known to feed on a wide variety of soft-bodied arthropods, including many aphid species, caterpillars, insect eggs, spiders, and mites. Therefore, they are important biological control agents in gardens.
