Description: 1 1/5 inch long. Dark brown to black; similar to a June beetle, but not as oval.

Where/When: Found from July-September; is associated with rotting wood in trees and logs. Is also attracted to lights at night.

Significance: Beneficial as a recycler of rotting wood; does not harm trees.
