Description: 1/3 inch long.
Red with a white or pale spot on either side of the head. There are seven black spots total, three on each wing cover and one central spot at the base of the head. 

Where/When: Found outdoors in gardens, landscapes, and fields from spring to fall.

Significance: Important beneficial insect, feeding primarily on aphids.
