Description: 1 - 1 1/4 inch long. Wasp in iridescent violet-black with smoky black wings with a violet sheen.

Where/When: Found on perennials. Active July to September.

Significance: Has a stinger but is not aggressive and rarely stings (it can sting if disturbed).
