Description: 1 - 1 1/2 inches long. Brown or gray with a cylindrical body and up to 400 very short legs. Can curl up if disturbed.

Where/When: Can be found in a variety of habitats, such as under leaves, logs, loose bark, and mulch, especially in shady, moist areas, from spring to fall.

Significance: Beneficial as a recycler of decaying organic matter. Does not harm people or plants. Can sometimes be a nuisance indoors.
