Metallic wood boring beetle

Description: 1/2 - 1 inch long.
Where/When: Most commonly found indoors during winter, but can be found at other times of the year.
Significance: Is associated with wood. Can be brought indoors with firewood or lumber in construction projects. Is harmless to people. Can cause cosmetic damage to wood from which it emerges, but fortunately it does not re-infest wood.
