Larder beetle

Jeff Hahn, University of Minnesota Extension
Description: 1/4 - 1/3 inch long.
Where/When: Found indoors during spring and summer in most rooms of homes.
Significance: Feeds on meats, cheese, dead animals and dead insects. Finding a couple of adults during spring does not automatically mean there is a problem. However, when more adults, as well as larvae, are found, this indicates an infestation is present. Problems are often associated with dead insects in wall voids.
