False honey ant

False honey ant

Don Breneman

Description: 1/4 inch long. (It is often challenging to recognize ants from a picture. Because different ants may be treated differently, be sure an ant problem is correctly identified before attempting control.)

Where/When: Infrequently found indoors during spring and summer.

Significance: This is an outdoor species that infrequently enters homes. It doesn't nest indoors (it nests outdoors in the soil) and is just a nuisance.
