Theif ant

Thief ant

Don Breneman

Description: Less than 1/16 inch long. (It is often challenging to recognize ants from a picture. Because different species may be treated differently, be sure an ant problem is correctly identified before attempting control).

Where/When: Found in homes most commonly during the summer in places where they find food.

Significance: This is an outdoors species that can enter homes, especially during mid to late summer and becomes a temporary nuisance. It occasionally nests indoors in small cavities, cracks and spaces.
