Description: 1/2 - 5/8 inch long. Somewhat stout, hairy insects; golden brown with black stripes on abdomen.
Where/When: Honey bees can potentially build nests in cavities in homes, such as wall voids. They are active from spring through fall.
Significance: Honey bees valued as pollinators. However, they are a potential health problem because they sting. Fortunately, they are much less likely than wasps to nest in homes.
