Description: 1/32 inch long. Brown with an oval body and 8 legs. (Mites are often challenging to identify; have an expert identify any mites that are not easily recognized).

Where/When: This mite is associated with poultry and many song birds. When northern fowl mites are found in a home that indicates a bird nest on the building. These mites are present during spring and summer.
