Description: 1/4 - 2/5 inch long. Stout-bodied, wasp-like insects. They are typically dark colored, sometimes with orange or brown. The wings have many veins.

Where/When: Found on evergreen trees and shrubs, including pine, spruce, and larch during spring and summer; the exact timing depends on the species.
