Description: 1/8 inch long. Flattened, oval, brown, eventually enlarging to hemispheres with a white, cottony mass underneath. Produces honeydew, a shiny, sticky substance.

Where/When: Found on branches of hardwood trees including maple, linden, hackberry, and honeylocust. Most noticeable in May through June.
