  • Larvae are cream colored and then become green with prominent dark; full grown larvae are one half inch long
  • Feed on leaf margins; heavy feeders and rapidly defoliate plants
  • Active in May and June

Currant spanworm
Itame ribearia

  • Larvae begin feeding on the tips of the leaves and then feed until plant is defoliated
  • Feed from late May through June
  • Smooth-skinned larvae are bright yellow with white patches and many black spots; 1.25 inch long when fully grown
  • Larvae move with looping motion
