Strawberry Bud Weevil (Clipper Weevil)
Anthonomus signatus

  • Adults girdle, or clip the bud; bud is either found next to the plant, or dangling from the stem
  • Adults are reddish brown, with black patches on their backs, and are about 1/10" in length with curved snouts about half as long as their body length
  • Adults are present in early-mid spring, usually in early May
  • Remove weeds near strawberries
  • Mow and remove leaves after harvest
