Uneven moisture
- Causes radish root to split or crack

Wireworms
Agriotus spp., Melanotus spp.
- Tunneling and holes in roots
- Leaves show no damage
- More common in gardens that were previously in grass or sod
- Larvae are thin, shiny, jointed, yellow to reddish-brown color, and approximately ¼ - 1 ½ inch long
- Larvae can be found throughout the growing season

Downy mildew
Peronospora parasitica
- Skin on the root may be rough, corky and cracked
- Dark brown to black sunken area on the upper half of the radish root, center of root remains white
- Angular yellow spots on leaves that eventually grow into tan papery areas with a yellow border
- Fuzzy white to gray fungal growth can be seen on the underside of the leaves
- Common in cool wet weather
