Tansy

Tanacetum vulgare L.

Found in:

  • Prairie plantings and lakeshore areas
  • Most common in the northern part of Minnesota

Characteristics:

  • Perennial that grows 3-4’ tall
  • Fern-like leaves arise alternately along stem
  • Clusters of bright yellow, button-like flowers bloom July through Sept.
  • Dense, fibrous root system consists of underground stems (rhizomes)
  • New plants grow from root pieces
