Creeping Yellowcress (Yellow Fieldcress, Keek)
Rorippa sylvestris (L.) Bess (R. sinuata)
Found in:
- Landscape beds; common in heavy, wet, nutrient-rich soil
Characteristics:
- Annual, biennial, or short-lived perennial that is 6-18” tall
- Leaves are alternate along stem, linear and deeply lobed
- Pale yellow 4-petaled flowers at or near the end of the stem occur June to Sept.; flower stems are upright
- Pale yellow taproot is slender and has secondary fibrous roots
Significance:
- Seed is produced 2 to 3 times per year
- Plants spread by growing additional shoots from the crown or from the roots
